Hey, Ronald Mike here from Ali.
And uh I just have a few ideas that might help transition your site over to the new version of the theme.
So, unfortunately, because those theme names are different, it's not gonna be a like super seamless um transition to the new theme.
That's just the way the wordpress architecture works right now.
Um It's looking for that old theme name and, and when it activates a new one, it's just treating it like it's like you're, you're switching to a whole new theme, not a new version of Ali.
So um the uh styles part of it, the global styles, you're probably gonna have to change those again.
Um I mean, I guess there is a potential that you could use a plug in like WP migrate to change that old theme name value to the new one.
But I don't know, I feel like that may introduce more problems than, than you want to deal with.
Um But I think uh you know, going through this transition, even though it's kind of a pain, it's, it could be nice.
There's could be a silver lining of you're learning the kind of inner workings of how all this stuff works and um just use them as, as an opportunity to get to sharpen your, your wordpress skills.
So, um what I'm gonna show you is just using um pages to uh copy some of these things that you've customized and, and kind of tricking wordpress.
And so what I'm gonna do is um I saw you had a like a customized header.
So I'm gonna come into the editor here and we go to Patterns and uh we're gonna go to the header and let's go in there and edit this.
And so what basically all I'm gonna do is just copy this and I'm gonna come into a page.
I'm just gonna create a new page in the pages list and I'm gonna paste that in there and that should carry with it.
The customizations you've made to the layout of this thing.
And um as long as we save it in a page when we go to transition to the new theme, um you know, a lot of your stuff is gonna be gone, obviously, but you should be able to come back to this page and still have this header as you had it customized and then you can take this and copy it and then paste it, go back into the um the patterns and the new theme and just paste this in here.
Remove this one, paste the old one in and uh hit update and it should, it should kind of get you part of the way there.
And you could do the same thing with um some of the other things too, like the templates with the uh page with sidebar.
It looked like you had customized.
Uh You may be able to just come in here, take this thing, copy this group section, come in here, um paste that in there.
And so you could see, I'm, I'm just kind of just using this page to store some of these bits.
And then when we do the transition, come back in here, grab these, put them back where we had them.
Uh You know, this will save you some time.
It's not gonna be a perfect fix.
But I think in context of, of this kind of weird transition we're in, this isn't the worst uh in between.
It might help you save, you know, 20 minutes, half hour um during this transition.
So, uh these are just a few ideas.
Maybe they spark some other ideas on your end.
Um I'll kind of keep thinking about this for my own use cases for the future because um obviously you won't be the last person to, to run into this.
So hopefully this was helpful.
Um Yeah.
Uh update me in the thread about uh how this went and if you have any other ideas.
All right, thanks Ron.
See you
